Left the house at around 10.30 am. Hopped on the S-tog (subway train) and off we went to the central station. Met Kak Zana’s family & Emma-Faisal there. Although we bought the DSB Orange gruppebillet, our seats & Emma’s seats were far apart. Nevertheless, we still had fun throughout the journey to Hamburg. The seats were comfortable and spacious. Sara even slept the first 1 ½ hour of the journey! (tu yg magic tu).
The best part was, the coaches that were going to Hamburg went onboard of a Scandlines ferry. The ferry then sailed from Rødby færgehavn in Denmark to Puttgarden in Germany. Since we hadn’t had our lunch on the train, we decided to take our bekal and ate it on the ferry. 45 minutes later, we arrived in Puttgarden, Germany and continued our journey to Hamburg. Arrived at Hamburg Hauptbanhoff at around 4.20 pm.
Went straight to Ibis St. Pauli Messe Hotel to check in, performed our Zohor & Asar prayers (jamak), refreshed ourselves, changed Sara’s nappy and off we went out to Hamburg’s city center. Since I’ve been to a few parts of Germany before (Hamburg, Dortmund & Cologne), I know a little bit on how the public transport ticketing system works because all the vending machine for tickets were in Deutsch and a little bit English such as “Please Pay”!! And the people there are not as friendly as Danes. Every time we tried to ask someone for directions, they’ll refuse by saying “No English”. Then we went to C & A, a very big shop selling all kinds of clothes from babies to adults located at one of Hamburg's famous shopping district, Mönckebergstraβe.
After that, it was dinner time since everybody was starrrrving. We took them back to a Turkish grill restaurant that we went when we first came to Hamburg with Mak & adik last summer. I'll update more pics on our journey in my next entry...
